Performance Task
The testimony I chose is the testimony of Abraham Bomba. In this testimony he mainly speaks about the gassing operations in Treblinka, how he got to be there and he talks about the different experiences he had on there. To begin with I would like giving a breath context of this situation that happened in the Treblinka. This was the name given to an extermination camp, which was build up by Nazi Germany during the Second World War and was stated in Poland specifically located near the Treblinka village. This camp operated between 1942 and 1943, during this period of time more or less around 700,000 to 900,000 Jews were killed in its gas chambers, along with 2,000 Romani people. More Jews were killed in this camp than at any other Nazi camp apart from Auschwitz camp. Now we can understand how Abraham talks about his experience in Treblinka how he was deported in 1942 to there and that he was selected to work on forced labor. He talks about how he had to cut the hair of women before they were gassed and some other hard things, in this horrible camp from the Nazis.
Identifying the theme of this story or testimony is not even easy but I could say that the theme of this hard testimony is: Working or having a relation with gas chambers in Treblinka was a really horrible experience. Something that is useful to find or identify this theme is basically all the talk of Abraham Bomba because in it he expresses how he was forced to clean these gas chambers taking all the cloths and all the possible things people that were in these chambers could have. So when other people entered there, they didn’t know what was or had happen in there. And to do this “job” following the testimony of Abraham was horrible.
In this testimony Abraham Bomba expressed many ideas for example: The man said that he and his family had been deported to the Treblinka killing center from the Czestochowa ghetto in 1942. Abraham also said that at Treblinka, he had been selected for forced labor. Abraham told the whole world that he had been forced to cut women's hair before they had been gassed. Abraham said that cleaning up the place was not something he could take and clean. Abraham said that it had been horrible. In addition Abraham said that he had escaped from the camp in 1943 and had made his way back to Czestochowa. And to end with the man said that he had worked in a labor camp from June 1943 until liberation by soviet troops in 1945.
To conclude with we can say that the Nazi epoch was a horrible period of time. That Treblinka was extermination camps which killed a lot of people in its gas chambers and were Nazi Germans put on forced labor people like Abraham Bomba. A man that was deported from Czestochowa, Poland, to Treblinka with his family in 1942 and he was selected to do forced labor. Abraham had to clean gas chambers in that camp for about one year until he escape 1943 and went again to Czestochowa after he had around one horrible year in which he had to clean gas chambers and a lot more things that were sad and hard to do.
